Al-Tirmidhi, Al-Nasa’i, Al-Hakim, and others narrated on the authority of Ibn Omar, may God be pleased with them both, who said: When the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, heard thunder and lightning, he would say: (Oh God, Hudo not kill us with your anger, and do not destroy us with your torment, and protect us before that), Al-Tirmidhi said. : Strange talk.
Al-Tabarani narrated on the authority of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them both, who said: They - meaning the polytheists - said to the Prophet: If it is as you say, then show us our sheikhs, the greatest of the dead, and open for us these mountains, the mountains of Mecca that have annexed us, so it was revealed: (And if it were a Qur’an by which the mountains would move or The earth was cut off with it) verse.

On the authority of Amer bin Abdullah bin Al-Zubair, that he used to “when he heard thunder, he would stop talking, and say: ‘Glory be to Him whom thunder glorifies with praise, and the angels fear Him,’ and then he would say: ‘This is a severe threat to the people of the earth.’”

Objectives of Surat Al-Ra'ad

Surat Al-Ra'ad begins with a general issue of faith: the issue of the revelation of this book, and the truth it contains, and that is the basis for the rest of the issues, such as monotheism of God, belief in resurrection, and good deeds in life. They all stem from the belief that the one commanding this is God, and that this Qur’an is a revelation from Him, Glory be to Him, to His Messenger may God bless him and grant him peace. This is in general, but in detail, the Surah includes the following objectives:

1- The Surah showed that this Qur’an has a profound effect on the human soul, to the point that mountains are almost moved by it, the earth is divided by it, and the dead are spoken by it. Because of its authority, strength, impetus and vitality.
2- The Surah confirmed that this book alone is the truth. Turning away from it, denying it, defiance, slow response, and the ruggedness of the road...all of them do not change anything of that great truth, the nature of the confrontation with which the polytheists used to challenge the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and with which they challenge this Qur’an.
3- The divine guidance to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, to speak out loudly in the face of rejection, denial, defiance, slow response, and the difficult path with the truth that is with him in full; It is that there is no god but God, there is no Lord but God, and there is no god to be worshiped except God, and that God is the One, the Supreme, and that people will be returned to Him, either to Paradise or to Hell. All of these facts were denied by the polytheists, and they challenged the Messenger regarding them.
4- The Surah revealed to those who call people to God the nature of the approach to this call, and that they must speak out loudly about the basic truths in this religion, and not hide anything from them, and not postpone them.
